The basic objective behind celebrating religious functions

The basic objective behind celebrating religious functions such as Ganeshotsava, Navaratras etc collectively was to activate and encourage the spirit of unity by uniting every village of the Hindu society, generating a flow of Hindutva; however, due to lack of Sadhakatva (seekerhood), it becomes difficult for 20 members of a group to come together for four days to do Dharmakaarya (work pertaining to Dharma)! To nourish their ego, they start public functions in every street and locality and simply ignore the basic objective behind the public religious festival !
