Do not start your day with a newspaper. Today, newspapers carry spiritually impure (Tamoguni) news such as that of corruption, looting & arson, accidents, thefts, rape etc. On reading this, a black veil is created around our subtle body, that is mind and intellect and this unnecessary tamoguni veil reduces our mental and intellectual abilities and makes the mind restless. Hence, start the day listening to devotional songs (Bhajans) sung by saints, reading Sanskrut verses (Stotras), or reading books written by them, or chanting etc.
