The Indian Navy slammed Kerala Cm on Monday and said that it has not sent “any bill” to the Kerala government for the rescue and relief operations launched during the massive floods in Kerala in August. Navy rescued nearly 17,000 people stranded in a devastating flood in Kerala. Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command told reporters, “We have not sent any bill to the state government.” His statement came in response to the report, which states that during the floods in Kerala in August this year, some agencies involved in rescue operations sent billions of rupees to the state government.
Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan had recently said that for the ration and relief work received during flood, the state has to pay Rs. 290 crores to the Center. Vijayan had said last week, “The Air Force has asked the state to pay Rs 33.79 crore for relief work during floods. Vice Admiral said that according to the policy of the Indian Navy, the Navy itself carries expenditure on humanitarian assistance.
He further said that the Navy considers such campaigns as part of its training. This is part of our mandate and our operations campaign. “Indian Navy rescues 16,843 people under the name ‘Operation Madad’, a rescue operation, In which 1,173 people were taken off the plane.
